Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to SUN Stream for Android phones, tablets, and Android TV. It explains how information is handled when you discover and pair devices, receive streams, share your Android screen or selected media, send remote-control input, or use purchases and advertising features. Feature availability depends on your device and Android version.

1. Information Used to Operate SUN Stream

SUN Stream processes information needed for its features, including an app-generated device identifier, device name, local network addresses and ports, device and codec capabilities, pairing codes or connection tokens, app settings, connection status, and streaming performance information.

Connected devices exchange information needed to discover each other, authorize connections, and deliver the requested stream or control commands. Advertising and purchase services process additional information described below.

2. Screen, Audio, and Remote-Control Input

In receiver mode, SUN Stream processes video and audio from a connected host and sends supported keyboard, mouse, touch, or game-controller input to that host.

In Android Host mode, SUN Stream requests Android's screen-sharing authorization before capturing your screen or the content selected through the system prompt. Content visible within that capture, including personal information, may be transmitted to the receivers you select. Avoid displaying sensitive information during a sharing session.

On supported Android versions, SUN Stream can capture playback audio from eligible media and games. This requires Android's audio-recording permission and screen-sharing authorization. The current Host audio feature captures internal playback audio; it does not record microphone speech. Android and the source application may restrict which content can be captured.

Screen sharing runs through a foreground service with an Android notification. You can end sharing through SUN Stream or Android's screen-sharing controls. SUN Stream does not claim ownership of your streamed content.

3. Local Network Discovery and Connections

SUN Stream uses network access and local discovery messages to find compatible hosts or receivers, test connectivity, pair devices, and maintain sessions. Device identifiers, names, addresses, and capabilities may be visible to devices participating in discovery on the same network.

The current streaming implementation sends media and control data directly between connected devices. SUN Stream does not operate a cloud relay for these streams in this Android implementation. Advertising, consent, purchases, and Android backup can use internet services separately.

4. Pairing and Selected Media

SUN Stream stores an app-generated device identifier and receiver access code locally. Android Host mode can also save receiver pairing codes so that recognized receivers can be selected again. Only share codes with people and devices you trust.

For direct video sharing, you select a file through Android's document picker. SUN Stream reads that file and relevant metadata, such as its display name, media type, and size, and makes it available to your selected receivers during the session. This does not grant unrestricted access to your media library.

Android may retain the read permission granted for a selected file. If you choose a cloud-backed document provider, that provider may download or otherwise process the file under its own policy.

5. Google Play Purchases

The current Android app does not require a separate SUN Stream account. Where available, SUN Stream PRO is offered as a one-time in-app purchase through Google Play Billing.

SUN Stream processes product identifiers, purchase status, purchase tokens, and acknowledgment status to recognize and activate the purchase. It caches PRO entitlement status locally. Google Play manages the payment and purchase records associated with your Google account. SUN Stream does not receive your complete payment-card details through this flow.

6. Local Storage and Android Backup

SUN Stream stores device and pairing information, performance profiles, touch-control preferences, cached PRO status, and preview-session state on your device. Google SDKs may also store their own settings and consent information.

Android backup is enabled in the current app. Depending on your device, Android version, and backup settings, eligible app data may be backed up or transferred by Android or your device's backup provider. Data held locally should therefore not be assumed to remain exclusively on the original device.

7. Diagnostics

SUN Stream displays device, network, codec, and streaming diagnostics and writes technical messages to Android's logging system. These messages may include connection addresses, errors, and performance information.

The current app does not include a dedicated SUN Stream analytics or automatic crash-upload service. This does not exclude diagnostic processing by the advertising SDK, Google Play, Android, or your device provider under their own services and settings. If you send logs to support, review them and remove unnecessary personal information first.

8. Android Permissions

SUN Stream uses internet, network-state, Wi-Fi-state, and multicast access for discovery and connections; foreground services for active screen or media sharing; and audio settings access for audio routing. Audio-recording permission is requested for supported internal playback capture.

The current app does not request camera, contacts, SMS, or precise-location permission, and it does not request broad access to all photos or files. Selected video access is granted through Android's document picker. Advertising-related permissions included by Google SDKs support advertising identifiers and advertising services where available.

You can manage runtime permissions through Android's app settings. Denying a permission can prevent the feature that requires it. Personal content visible in a shared screen or present in a selected file can still be transmitted as part of that session.

9. Advertising and Consent

On Android phones and tablets, SUN Stream integrates Google AdMob through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Free users may see an interstitial advertisement between eligible preview sessions. PRO users bypass these advertisements, although the current mobile startup flow may still prepare consent and initialize the advertising SDK when allowed.

Google's advertising SDK may collect and share IP addresses, approximate location inferred from IP addresses, app or ad interactions, diagnostic information, advertising identifiers, app-set identifiers, and applicable device or account identifiers. Google uses this information for advertising, measurement, analytics, and fraud prevention, subject to the applicable settings and consent choices.

SUN Stream uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request consent information and display consent forms where required. A privacy-options control is made available when the consent platform requires it. You can also manage advertising identifiers through Android settings where supported.

In the current Android TV mode, SUN Stream skips this advertising preparation flow and does not request or display these interstitial advertisements. It uses a waiting period for the applicable free preview break instead.

SUN Stream does not provide screen-stream contents, remote-control input, or selected video files to AdMob as advertising data. Google's privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy and its partner information at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

10. Third-Party Services

Relevant services include Google Play Billing, Google AdMob, Google's consent platform, Android backup or device-transfer services, and any document provider you choose for a video file. Your connected host or receiver also processes information needed for the session.

These services have their own data-handling terms. Connecting to a Windows, macOS, or Linux device, or displaying a platform logo, does not by itself mean that SUN Stream sends your information to that platform's owner.

11. Open-Source Components

SUN Stream uses open-source and third-party components for its features. Their licenses and attribution notices are provided separately. Including a component does not by itself send user information to its authors; network services and SDK processing are described in this policy.

12. Connection Security

SUN Stream uses access codes and connection tokens to restrict supported connection operations. These access controls are not a guarantee of encrypted transport.

The current implementation includes unencrypted local HTTP connections, including direct video delivery. Do not assume that all media, pairing, or control traffic is encrypted or end-to-end encrypted. Use SUN Stream only on networks and with devices you trust, and do not expose its local services to the public internet.

Protect your device, network, and pairing codes. No system can guarantee complete security.

13. Retention and Deletion

SUN Stream processes live screen, audio, and control data during a session and does not intentionally maintain a permanent recording of those streams. Session buffers and operating-system handling may temporarily retain data. A source file you selected remains with its original storage provider.

Saved app settings and pairing information remain until they are changed or removed, app storage is cleared, or the app is uninstalled, subject to Android backup and restore behavior. Clearing app storage removes locally cached settings and entitlement status; a Google Play purchase may be recognized again from your Play account.

Use Android's app-storage controls to clear app data, and manage backups separately in your device or backup-provider settings. Uninstalling SUN Stream does not delete Google Play purchase records, provider-held advertising data, backups, or copies held by connected devices. Those records follow the relevant provider's retention and deletion processes.

14. Information Sharing

SUN Stream shares stream contents, selected media, connection information, and supported control input with the devices you choose to connect. Google receives information needed for purchase, advertising, and consent services as described above. Android backup and document providers may process information when you use those features.

SUN Stream does not sell your screen streams, control-session contents, or selected files. Advertising SDK collection and sharing are described separately in Section 9. If you contact support, the information you choose to submit is used to address that request; do not send passwords, pairing codes, or payment-card details.

15. International Processing

Local device-to-device streaming does not require a SUN Stream cloud relay. Google and other providers used for purchases, advertising, backups, documents, or support may process information in other countries under their own policies and applicable transfer arrangements.

16. Children's Privacy

SUN Stream does not ask users to submit their age or date of birth. Parents and guardians should supervise children's use of screen sharing, connected devices, purchases, and advertising features. Contact us if you believe personal information about a child has been provided to SUN Stream inappropriately.

17. Your Choices and Rights

You can stop sharing, disconnect devices, remove saved receiver pairings through the available Host controls, revoke runtime permissions, clear app storage, and manage Android backup settings. Advertising choices are available through the consent controls when required and through applicable Android settings.

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Contact us about information you have provided to SUN Stream. Requests concerning information held independently by Google or another provider should also be directed to that provider. Retention required by applicable law may limit deletion.

18. Policy Changes

We may update this policy when SUN Stream's features, data practices, providers, or applicable requirements change. The version available in the app identifies its last update date. Additional notice or consent will be provided where required.
