Where third-party logos, icons, or brand assets are displayed, their use is intended to comply with the applicable trademark and brand usage guidelines established by their respective owners.

---

# License Files

The SUN Stream distribution should include the applicable complete license texts and notices, for example:

    legal/
    ├── THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt
    └── licenses/
        ├── Apache-2.0.txt

Where a third-party project supplies its own NOTICE, COPYING, AUTHORS, copyright, or attribution file that must accompany redistribution, that material should also be preserved.

---

# Important Release Requirement

This document must reflect the contents of the **actual production installer**, not merely the development dependency list.

Before every commercial release of SUN Stream:

1. Inspect the final MSI payload.
2. Identify all third-party binaries and assets actually distributed.
3. Verify their exact versions.
4. Verify their licenses.
5. Verify their build configurations where licensing can change based on build options.
6. Include all required license and NOTICE files.
7. Remove entries for components no longer distributed.
8. Add newly introduced dependencies before release.
9. Verify redistribution rights for fonts, drivers, SDK binaries, and other non-code assets separately.
10. Keep evidence of the source/version/build configuration used for each dependency.

Copyright © 2026 SUN Stream. All rights reserved.

SUN Stream proprietary software is not licensed under the third-party licenses listed above except where expressly stated. Each third-party component remains governed by its own applicable license.

## Liquid Glass dock shader

The SUN Android DX dock adapts the exponential refraction technique from
OverShifted/LiquidGlass (Copyright 2026 Sepehr Kalanaki) and
b3s3da/LiqiudGlassHLSL (Copyright 2025 uwunervouz), both under the MIT License.
Only the required shader technique is adapted; their demo frameworks and assets
are not bundled. SUN's dock effect uses its existing Direct2D/D3D11 compositor.
Full MIT notices and pinned upstream source references are included in
`licenses/liquid-glass.txt` alongside the desktop executable.

## Platform names and artwork

Windows is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation; macOS is a trademark of Apple
Inc.; Debian is a registered trademark owned by Software in the Public Interest,
Inc.; Ubuntu is a trademark of Canonical Limited. SUN Stream is not affiliated
with or endorsed by those organizations. The colorful platform badges bundled
with SUN Stream are original project artwork and are not official vendor logos.

## Android Debug Bridge (SUN Android DX backend)

The bundled adb.exe is built locally from AOSP-derived android-tools 37.0.0
sources with the pinned MSYS2 Windows build patches. AdbWinApi.dll and
AdbWinUsbApi.dll are built locally with MSVC from the AOSP development sources
packaged by msys2/adbwinapi. These are not Google's Platform Tools binaries.

- ADB upstream: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/packages/modules/adb/
- Source packaging: https://github.com/nmeum/android-tools
- Windows build recipes: https://github.com/msys2/MINGW-packages
- USB source packaging: https://github.com/msys2/adbwinapi

Installed `scrcpy/AOSP-ADB.json` records source hashes, build recipe hashes,
toolchain package versions, and hashes of the complete ADB runtime.
`scrcpy/adb-notices/` contains upstream and runtime-library notices.
The source archives and build recipes accompany MSI artifacts under
`third-party-sources/aosp-adb/`.

ADB and the USB DLLs are source-built; support DLLs (including Protobuf, Abseil,
Brotli, LZ4, Zstandard, zlib, and GCC runtime libraries) come from MSYS2 packages.
AOSP-origin components retain their respective licenses; this build is not a
claim that every incorporated component uses Apache-2.0. The source sidecar
covers ADB/USB and vendored sources, not a complete rebuild of the MSYS2 toolchain.

## Encoder parity, AV1 and HDR

SUN Stream adapts encoder settings, NVIDIA driver preferences and HDR color
conversion from Sunshine commit f309ef6577c48dd0a0c20883127e66d180248769
(https://github.com/LizardByte/Sunshine), under GNU GPL version 3.
Adapted files identify their source and SUN Stream modifications.
The scRGB-to-PQ color functions are from Sunshine's
src_assets/windows/assets/shaders/directx/include/common.hlsl.

The common software/AMF/QSV/Media Foundation backend links FFmpeg 9.0.2,
built with GPL and version3 enabled, and x264. NVIDIA encoding uses
nv-codec-headers n13.0.19.0; NVIDIA profile control uses the MIT-licensed
NVAPI SDK. AMD AMF headers and Intel oneVPL are used for their respective
hardware backends. Exact source revisions, runtime hashes and the build
package versions are recorded in sun-engine/windows/encoder-dependencies.json.

Full encoder dependency license texts are installed as `encoder-notices.txt`;
`encoder-dependencies.json` records their source pins and SHA-256 values.
The MSI build stages upstream archives and matching MSYS2 source packages under
`third-party-sources/encoders/`, alongside the FFmpeg build recipe. A release must
publish these and the corresponding SUN sources alongside its binaries.
Internal candidate builds are not the published release.

## Moonlight Android USB controller drivers

Adapted Android USB Xbox driver source: https://github.com/moonlight-stream/moonlight-android at b48494cb96bff23d8886c4775cc4f39a1075495d. GPL version 3; original license is included in tv-app/src/main/assets/licenses/moonlight-android.txt. SUN adaptations replace GameStream constants and logging and connect driver input to SUN session input. Original source hashes are recorded beside the adapted Java files in upstream.json. No GameStream engine is included. Physical USB controller validation remains pending.

## Advanced controller and Steam audio integration

SUN adapts DS4 report conversion and Windows audio routing from Sunshine
f309ef6577c48dd0a0c20883127e66d180248769 (GPL-3.0-only).
The libvirtualhid client at 2db2cc2d7f428a53a480985fed041d77dc121f51 and
lizardbyte-common at f9d91e1d29b7473f58e43acde4579da4e56c4abe are MIT-licensed.
Only their MIT client sources are linked/distributed. The proprietary Broker/driver,
its entitlement configuration and evaluation code are excluded. The optional
account URLs are removed from the MIT client; license/status enforcement is unchanged.
Virtual HID Broker must be obtained and licensed separately by the user.
Steam Streaming Speakers is installed only from an existing local Steam installation;
SUN does not redistribute the Steam driver.
